On December 6, 2023, I launched my first-ever global marketing workshop, “Become a 6-Figure Global Freelancer/Service Provider (as a Non-native English Speaker),” and it was a success!
In this blog post, I’ll be sharing what happened behind the scenes to execute the successful workshop launch. I will also touch on the promotion strategy I used to spread the word about the workshop.
Are you ready? Read on to learn how I did it!
Promotion Period: Nov 27th to Dec 7th (10 days)
Promotion Method: Organic only – social media posts, posting events on social media platforms
Result Summary: 119 visitors in funnels -> Got 24 email lists -> 14 people joined
Funnel -> email list (Conversion rate: 20.1%)
Email list -> Workshop Joined (Conversion rate: 58.3%)
Visitor Demographics:
South Korea, United States, Philippines, Canada, Netherlands, Colombia, Albania, Armenia, Switzerland, India, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Jordan, Paraguay, Singapore, and Ukraine.
Main Purpose of Workshop: Increase the email list
Sub-Purpose: Membership, VIP offer sales
Target Audience Summary: Global freelancers/service providers who speak English as a second language and want to secure a 6-figure income/business.
Experience:
Did I have any experience running workshops before? Not online. I have conducted several offline marketing workshops in the Korean language in South Korea.
Did I have experience creating a funnel before? No, it was my first time, although I have helped a couple of global companies with landing pages and websites.
Did I run advertising campaigns? No, it was totally organic.
Why No Advertising? I didn’t have success stories yet for promoting online workshops for my business. I wanted to find out what works and what doesn’t work by using my own content.
Did I already have an email list?
No, I had only 5 email lists, lol.
Promotion Strategy:
I created 17 reels, posted 8 text-based posts, a couple of stories on TT, IG, FB, 1-2 posts in FB groups, and event postings. That was all.
Great Platforms/Sources for Attendees:
LinkedIn event, Facebook, and one relevant networking group.
Promoting a workshop without advertising was somewhat challenging. I posted long-form text once a day and posted reels twice a day. So here’s a checklist for the workshop launch that I followed and will be helpful to you as well.
However, if you don’t have your proper network yet – in my case, it was Linkedin and Facebook and one relevant group – it could be hard to secure attendees organically, or even the conversion rate will be really low.
- Create a workshop launch dashboard using Asana – there is a template you can simply use (2 months before launch).
- Distribute all the tasks with your team members. The exact timeline and the assignee and more (2 months before launch).
- Create a funnel (at least 1 month earlier). For your information, I used the WP funnel for funnel creation.
- Create other MIFGE (lead magnets) for your VIP offer – (at least 3 weeks earlier).
- Create content and schedule content in advance or during the workshop. And post ‘every day’ at least (prepare content 3 weeks earlier).
- Prepare email automation through the Mail automation tool – I used Mailerlite (at least 3 weeks earlier).
- Create your Zoom meeting/Zoom webinar link. (I was imagining my workshop to have 500+ attendees lol, so I purchased the webinar feature, but I recommend using Zoom meetings to interact with your audience) (at least 3 weeks earlier).
- Announce your workshop (at least 2-3 weeks earlier).
- Post events on Linkedin, Facebook, and other relevant groups and invite people (your connections) manually. There is a button to do so. And once they click “going,” send a DM with an RSVP link. (If you don’t have your connections yet, you should build your connections first to do so.) (at least 2 weeks earlier).
- Please link the funnel in your bio on every social media – you should secure even 1 visitor, right? (at least 2 weeks earlier).
- Once you’ve got a somewhat list, prepare the presentation, and practice it as much as you can. In my case, I was not sure this workshop worked, so I prepared the whole presentation once I got a couple of lists. (at least 2 weeks earlier).
- While doing all of those things, you should publish content every day and monitor and analyze your stats in the email automation system, and funnels and your content.
- Prepare feedback forms, sales pitching, team operations, and more.
- Workshop Launch!
It was literally worth doing it. I’ve 5x my email list and got a couple of offers already. And with the feedback form, we can even advance further workshops 🙂 Do I have a plan to launch another workshop? I should think about it. I’ll get back to you with answers and experiments later 🙂
